Pascal from the student initiative Sustainability Office in the interview: "We do see that changes are taking place and that the climate protection or sustainability aspect is taken into account in university decisions, but we also always have to struggle with the "Humboldtian time calculation". This means, that the university is a gigantic apparatus, and decision-making processes are therefore long and slow. Roughly speaking, a student is at the university for three years, but three years is often too short for university decisions, which is why it was important to us to have equal representation in the "Sustainable University" commission (Kommission Nachhaltige Universität, KNU). We want to give students the opportunity to bring demands and ideas as close to the academic senate as possible."
